Affirming Isn't a Buzzword. It's a Stance.
Affirming therapy means your identity is the floor, not the ceiling. We don't treat being LGBTQ+ as a problem to be examined. We treat it as a healthy, valid expression of who you are, and we focus on what actually brought you in — which often has more to do with how the world has treated you than with who you are.
What We Specialize In
- Coming out — at any age
- Gender exploration and transition
- Minority stress and its mental health effects
- Family-of-origin issues, including rejection and reconciliation
- Relationships and identity within relationships
- Internalized homophobia and transphobia
- Grief specific to the queer experience
- Building chosen family
What You Won't Have to Do
You won't have to teach your therapist what your identity means. You won't have to convince anyone of your gender. You won't have your concerns reduced to your queerness, and you won't have your queerness ignored when it's relevant. We handle the basics — pronouns, names, relationship structures — without making them the whole conversation.
Specifically South Florida
Wilton Manors is one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly cities in the country, and our practice was built specifically to serve this community. Many of our clients come from across Broward County and beyond. Telehealth is available throughout Florida.
